XEO Laser Treatment Q & A

The Cosmetic Office of Dr. Platt

What do the various XEO lasers treat?

The XEO ProWave reduces the growth of unwanted hair with laser heat. Dr. Platt directs the laser at your hair follicles, disabling them with heat. She must treat every hair follicle in each stage of growth, so you require multiple treatments. Dr. Platt can use this laser treatment for unwanted hair on the:

  • Face
  • Back
  • Legs
  • Underarm

Limelight Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) helps improve skin tone and remove imperfections caused by UV exposure. The laser targets the following skin issues:

  • Acne
  • Age spots
  • Sun damage
  • Broken capillaries
  • Rosacea
Laser Genesis™

The Genesis laser improves the overall appearance of skin by stimulating new cell growth and improving collagen production. Laser Genesis targets common issues like:

  • Nail fungus
  • Warts
  • Scars
  • Large pores
  • Wrinkles
  • Rosacea
What do laser treatments feel like?

Most people undergo laser treatments without pain medication or local anesthesia. However, Dr. Platt can always provide topical anesthetics for sensitive areas. Some patients report a mild pinching or stinging during laser treatment.

What post-treatment care measures should I take?

All three laser treatments take less than an hour and require no downtime. Side effects are minimal, but you can minimize them and improve your results with proper aftercare protocol.

After ProWave laser hair removal, you should avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen. You’ll also want to avoid heat from the bath, sauna, or whirlpool. You won’t want to use skin irritants like retinol creams or astringents on treated skin. Shaving or plucking in between treatments interferes with the results.

Limelight treatments may cause redness and puffiness, so you can use cold compresses to bring down the swelling. However, you should refrain from using bare ice because it can interfere with treatment results. Dr. Platt recommends avoiding sun exposure and tanning between treatments.

Genesis treatments don’t require any aftercare, but you can use a cold compress for any affected spots.
